Diversity across the curriculum

Well hello there, and welcome to update #095!

October is Black History Month, and you might find the Myatt & Co films for developing diversity in the primary and secondary curriculum helpful.

The primary collection has great examples from brilliant colleagues such as Kulvinder Johan talking about diversity in the science curriculum with Bryony Turford and Rachel Higginson and you can watch them here.

Then there’s Liz Pemberton talking about anti-racism in the early years with Bennie Kara.

For secondary colleagues, there’s a brilliant discussion between Shammi Rahman and Steve Willshaw about relationships, the power of conversations together with other aspects when considering diversity.

And a history example from Alex Fairlamb on the importance of teaching about those who have been silenced in the past, so that learners have a more rounded picture of human achievement.

We’ve also spoken with leaders such as Sajid Gulzar in conversation with Andrew Morrish about equity and diversity in leadership, it’s moving and inspirational.
