Do quality curriculum resources matter? An obvious answer: of course they do!
To help us evaluate the quality of curriculum resources we’re using, we might ask ourselves the following:
On a scale of 1-10 how likely are these resources to make my pupils think?
On a scale of 1-10 how likely are these resources to provoke curiosity?
On a scale of 1-10 how likely are these resources to take my pupils deeply into the topic?
To take an example of Greek mythology, which might be part of KS2 history or English at KS2 or KS3. If we’re teaching the myth of Demeter and Persephone, we can use the scale above.
I argue that this image from the British Museum1 is likely to make pupils think, provoke their curiosity and take them deeply into the topic.
It makes a difference when we draw from authentic sources!
